Answer
Swissmedic, the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products, is responsible for the authorisation and monitoring of vaccines in Switzerland. Swissmedic assesses the efficacy, safety and quality of vaccines. If these criteria are assured, Swissmedic will grant market authorisation for a vaccine to be used in Switzerland.
If side effects occur, these must be reported to Swissmedic, which can then take any measures that may be required.
A short film on the Swissmedic website shows the development stages a vaccine goes through up to the point of authorisation.
